The Kiel public utility company has equipped a bypass line in a newly constructed drinking water tank with a butterfly valve with a 24 V DC drive.
The bypass flap is closed when the water is withdrawn from the tank and only opens when the pump system is switched off. When the bypass is open, drinking water is supplied directly from the upstream network area.
To ensure security of supply in the event of a power failure, the bypass flap must be able to open once even without the supply voltage from the public mains. With this drive, this is possible via the battery-buffered 24V supply of the system.
