Our History
113 Years of Inventive Spirit, Pioneering Work and Success
Albert Züllig was the inventor of systems that, for the first time in 1913, enabled the fully automatic, level-dependent filling of reservoirs in water supply systems. Working as an independent designer from his garage, he initially developed pump control systems as well as the necessary protective shutdown devices and remote water-level monitoring systems. He brought these designs to production maturity and gained worldwide recognition.
Züllig evolved from a small workshop into a company after cantonal fire insurance providers made their subsidy payments dependent on the installation of additional control systems. Albert Züllig developed battery-powered remote opening systems and, true to his nature, remained a passionate inventor and designer. Looking back, it can be said that when Züllig was founded, a team of strong individualists with unconventional working methods, but an exceptional degree of creativity, was at work.
In 1955, Züllig was passed on to the second generation of the family. Dr Hans Züllig played a major role in shaping the company’s development during this period, and at its peak the company employed up to 200 people. Since 2024, Züllig, with around 40 employees, has been part of the STEBATEC Group.
